Congratulations on your new Custom Made Brace!

Here are some FAQ and tips to make the most of your new custom brace:

Storage:

Never store your brace outdoors, INDOORS ONLY. Depending on your needs, next to your bed is probably the best place, ready to be worn when needed.

How long should I wear my Brace during the day?

Start off wearing your brace for a short time and gradually increase your time of use. It is recommended to be worn only when you feel it is needed, usually outdoors when you are going to be on your feet for more than 10 minutes. And don’t forget to wear a clean sock underneath. Make sure the sock has no wrinkle and comes up a little higher than the top of your brace.

How do I clean my Brace?

Mix luke-warm water with a mild soap (like sunlight/woolite), dip a cloth into the solution and then gently wipe your brace clean. Let it air overnight for best results. Rubbing Alcohol can also be used on the plastic.

What happens if irritation occurs?

If you experience a great deal of perspiration, try using some talcum powder on your leg before putting on your clean sock and orthosis.

Your skin may become red under some of the pressure areas of your orthosis. This is nothing to worry about if the redness disappears after you remove your brace. If it does not disappear, contact us straight away so that we can adjust your brace.

What happens if my Brace breaks?

This rarely happens, as your brace has undergone various checks for safety before it is given to you. If this does occur, please remove your brace when it is safe to do so, and give us a call straight away. If this happens on a weekend, please call us on 0407 470 045.

If any of the Straps/Velcro have broken or padding has deteriorated, give us a call and we can easily replace those as needed.

It is important to ensure that you attend a 3 month review appointment with us, as this will ensure your Brace fits and functions at its best.
